Since the campsites are about 7,500 feet in elevation, you will have some of the best views of the surrounding mountains and meadows in the area. You can hardly get a more scenic and peaceful location to camp for the weekend. The meadow where the sites are has lots of trees to provide some shade and privacy to your campsite. A quiet creek runs right through the meadow as well. You will also have access to Jennie Lakes Wilderness area from a trailhead accessible from the camp. Buck Rock Lookout and Hume Lake are just a short drive from the campsite as well and are some favorite places to visit in the area.
The actual campground features amenities like picnic tables and campfire rings at every campsite. You will also have access to vault toilets and fresh drinking water. You will not find showers, laundry facilities, dump station, or trash collection at this campground. You can build a fire, but you cannot bring your firewood, and you may not be permitted to make a fire if the weather is too hot, dry, or windy.
Dogs are allowed at the campground, but they should wear their leash at all times. You need to pick up after your dog when they are done doing their business and discard the bags properly.
Overall, Big Meadow Campground is in an incredible location that will leave you in awe of how beautiful nature can be. We are confident you and your pooch will love your weekend camping getaway at this location!
