In the area, Big Pine Canyon has the largest glacier on the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and it is indeed a sight to behold. The campground is also over 7,000 feet in the air providing some great views. Pines, sagebrush, cottonwood, and aspen trees fill the area, giving lots of shade and privacy at the campground and for the individual campsites. You will also have access to some of the best fresh, cool, and bluest glacial lakes in the area, which are popular to check out while camping at this location.
The most popular activities at Big Pine include fishing, hiking, walking, nature viewing, birding, wildlife viewing, and just relaxing in the peaceful and quiet wilderness. There are no main roads near the site, so you never have to worry about unwanted traffic noise or city sounds. Amenities at the campsites are few and far between, but you do have fresh drinking water and vault toilets as necessities. Firewood is available for purchase and campfire rings for cooking food, and marshmallows are on-site as well.
This is a dog-friendly campsite. However, there are no poop bags, so you must bring your own to clean up after your pooch. This helps maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the campground and surrounding area. Always make sure your dog has a comfortable, shady place to sleep and water to drink.
Overall. Big Pine Creek Campground is situated in a serene and quiet location that provides lots of outdoor activities and the ultimate bare-bones camping experience you and your dog are sure to enjoy!
