The campground is located within the Sequoia National Forest, which sits on more than a million acres and got its name for being home to the world's largest tree, the Sequoia. At the campground, you'll be surrounded by breathtaking trees from your position in the foothills of the desert. Boulder Gulch is conveniently located just minutes from the west shore of Lake Isabella. This lovely lake can be used for water sports, beach days, and some of the best fishing in California!
Boulder Gulch is a favorite campground for avid fishers, and it includes fish-cleaning stations. Some of its other amenities include a playground, flush toilets, campfire rings (a permit is required for campfires), showers, drinking water, and a nearby dump station. Each site can accommodate a maximum of six people, including children, and there are a few accessible campsites to pick from. The busiest time of year to visit this campground is summer, and although reservations are optional for most of the open season, they're required on holidays.
You'll find all sorts of nearby activities to enjoy, including the Kern Valley Golf Course, Kern Valley Museum, white-water rafting on the Kern River, or exploring the Silver City Ghost Town in Bodfish, California.
