Capps Crossing is a beautiful campground sitting at an elevation of 5,100 feet. The campground is located in the Eldorado National Forest, and it’s surrounded by fir and cedar trees that keep the area shady and cool. Capps Crossing is designed for groups, and the site can accommodate up to 42 people. If a group hasn't reserved the campground, individuals are welcome to use the campground on a first-come-first-served basis. Dogs are also welcome to join you in the campground on-leash.
While you’re at Capps Crossing, you’ll find plenty of pawesome things to do with your dog. If you and your pup want to go hiking, there are a number of scenic trails near the campground. These trails will take you through the forest and past stunning rock formations.
If you’d like to spend some time in the water, Capps Crossing is located on the North Fork Cosumnes River. This river is a popular place to go swimming and fishing, and you can also try your luck panning for gold here. The Cosumnes River is a great place to cool off and relax.
After you’ve finished hiking and swimming, you and your dog can spend time enjoying Capps Crossing’s many amenities. Capps Crossing offers a picnic area with charcoal grills, perfect for making burgers or hot dogs for you and your pup. There are plenty of scenic picnic tables near the grills where you can enjoy your meal. Each campsite also comes with its own campfire ring. At the end of the day, you can build a fire and enjoy relaxing under the stars with your furry best friend!
