Description

Whether you love fishing, boating, or simply immersing yourself in nature, Carolina Beach State Park is well worth a visit. Located on Pleasure Island in New Hanover County, North Carolina, this pristine park offers a little something for everyone (including dog lovers!).

Located along the Cape Fear River and Snow's Cut, the park offers water sports, towering trees, a peaceful camping area, and even the chance to see the unique Venus flytrap.

For many, the park is a favorite because it provides easy access to some of the best fishing anywhere in North Carolina. For others, Carolina Beach State Park's best feature is its nine-mile network of hiking trails that wind through a diverse range of natural habitats.

There's also a 54-slip marina with two public boat ramps at the junction of Snow's Cut and the Cape Fear River, providing easy access to Myrtle Grove Sound and also the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, dangerous currents and steep drop-offs just off-shore mean that swimming is prohibited throughout the park.

When you're ready to set up camp and rest your head for the night, the family campground can be found in a wooded area near Snow's Cut. It features 70 campsites with no hook-ups and nine campsites with full hook-ups, and the best part of all is that dogs are more than welcome. Four cabins are also available but do not permit pets.

If you're camping with your dog in Carolina Beach State Park, take care to abide by all park rules regarding pets. For example, you'll need to stick to designated dog-friendly areas and ensure that your furry friend is always leashed and under control. And if the need ever arises, don't forget to clean up after your dog.

Carolina Beach State Park is a pretty popular destination and it's not hard to see why. You and your dog will have a fun and memorable time, so why not check it out?

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
