Description

Few things are more refreshing than disconnecting from the monotonous daily life of adulthood and venturing out into the great blue yonder. Cherry Valley Campground, part of Stanislaus National Forrest in the central Sierra Nevada, will allow you to just that! The campground boasts 41 single-family and 5 double-family sites, with both primitive and RV camping areas. Each campsite features a campfire pit, grills, picnic tables, and accessibility to vault toilets and drinking water. Electrical hookups are unavailable for the RV sites and are not recommended for 5th wheel and motorhomes over 24 feet. There is a firewood vendor where you can stock up for your nighttime campfire. Bringing firewood from outside sources is not allowed as it perpetuates the spread of tree-killing pests and diseases.

There are plenty of activities to keep you busy during your stay here, with convenient access via a short hike to Cherry Lake -- the largest lake in the forest! Fishing enthusiasts come from far and wide to snag local rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. The lake has a boat ramp for visitors keen on setting sail and clean waters that are fabulous for swimming! This is an excellent place for a family getaway as everyone is welcome -- pups included! Just make sure you bring bags to take care of any presents Fido leaves behind. Keep in mind that this is bear country. Store food in airtight containers away from your sleeping area and dispose of trash and food wrappers properly.

This campground is a 2.5-hour trip from the world-renowned Yosemite National Park, making it a great place to rest up for a journey home after a visit there. The sites are first-come-first-served, so reservations are recommended. The campground's open season is dependent on the weather but typically is open by the last Friday in April to late September -- so enjoy it while you can! Cherry Valley Campground gives visitors the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and bond with their family members without the technology and other distractions of home life!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
