Chimney Loop Campground

Chimney Loop is a spectacular campground on the shores of Wagner Lake in the Huron-Manistee National Forest in Mio, Michigan. The campground has 12 single sites as well as three group sites that fit up to 30 people and six cars each. Just a stone's throw from the lake, this campsite sits among a forest of oak and pine trees, giving campers shade and privacy. Your four-legged companions can join you for your camping trip at Chimney Loop; just keep them on a leash when they aren't in your tent or vehicle.

The daily camping rate for a campsite at Chimney Loop starts at just $15. Not every spot at Chimney Loop Campground has its own campfire ring, but there are three group campfires as well as a historic working chimney that creates impressive fires. Wagner Lake Campground is just around the corner, and campers can go there for drinking water (but should still bring some of their own). There's also decent cell phone service at the campground. No hookups or dump stations are available here, but within ten miles of the campground, you'll find facilities like ATMs, cafes, auto repair shops, boat ramps and docks, and fishing docks.

Most Chimney Loop campers spend their time enjoying all of the recreational activities Wagner Lake has to offer. The lake has some of the best fishing in the area, and anglers can try their hand at catching pan fish and bass. Wagner Lake is a shallow lake that is also used for swimming, boating, canoeing, and kayaking. If you'd like to make a day trip, head to nearby Au Sable River to enjoy more water activities, including fishing for brown trout. There's no off-road vehicle trail access from the campground, but the M-33 ORV trailhead is just a short drive away.

Chimney Loop Campground doesn't take reservations, so keep that in mind when you're planning your pawesome camping adventure!
