Coyote Group

You'll need to make reservations to camp at Coyote Group Campground in the Tahoe National Forest. This remote facility offers wilderness adventure and is near the Granite Chief Wilderness. There are pit toilets, potable water, fire rings, and grills here. The grounds include four group sites. Three of the spots can accommodate 25 people. The fourth site can house 50 campers, has a higher fee, and is ADA accessible. When you come here, you can enjoy activities like hiking, fishing, and boating. Tents and RVs are welcome, but there are no hook-ups.

The campgrounds are near the French Meadows Reservoir and the American River's middle fork. You'll be camping in a mountainous forest of conifers here. Take advantage of area trails during the day. Go hiking through the wilderness and see the granite peaks and cliffs. If you bring a boat with you, head over to the McGuire Boat Ramp to spend some time on the water. Enjoy the furrific scenery here and cast your line in search of brown or rainbow trout. Back at camp, you can gather around the fire or eat together at the picnic tables. Remember to store all your food and other scented items in the food lockers at night to protect them from bears in the area.

You can bring your four-footed pal camping here. Keep Fido secure with a cord or leash any time they're out of the tent or vehicle. Never leave pets unattended, and clean up any waste. If you're out and about, you can bury poop as long as it's at least 100 feet away from the water or trail.

The Coyote Group Campground offers a pawtastic place to explore the wilderness and enjoy some outdoor recreation. Bring your canoe or boat to explore the waterways. Check out area trails to hike through the forest. You'll want to make reservations in advance; these sites get lots of use.
