Description

If you're planning a vacation in central Ohio, Deer Creek State Park should be right at the top of your list of must-see destinations. This 2,337-acre resort park boasts beautiful scenery, heaps of accommodation options and the chance to indulge in a wide range of outdoor activities. Best of all, the campground welcomes pets.

Situated in Fayette and Pickaway Counties, Deer Creek State Park is found in the heart of Ohio's agricultural land. The centerpiece is the 1,277-acre Deer Creek reservoir, which is surrounded by a landscape of meadows and woodlands.

There's plenty of fun to be had on the water, with two boat launch ramps providing easy access. Anglers can target catfish, largemouth bass, and crappie, while the area is also famous for its early-spring saugeye fishing below the dam.

A 1,700-foot swimming beach with picnic tables and grills offers the ideal spot to take a refreshing dip in summer. Unfortunately, pets aren't allowed on the beach.

There are several other picnic areas in scenic locations around the park, while visitors can also play a round or two at the 18-hole public golf course. A nine-hole disc golf course sits within the park boundaries, while there are seven hiking trails and a bridle trail also available.

The Deer Creek State Park Campground features more than 220 campsites and welcomes pets. Of course, if visiting the park with your canine companion, you'll need to keep them on a leash of six feet or less at all times. Your pet will also need to be under control at all times and you'll be required to clean up after them whenever necessary.

By taking care to be a responsible guest, you're doing your bit to help keep state parks across the country pet-friendly. All that's left for you and your dog to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your time in the great outdoors.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
