Description

A charming rural park full of history, beautiful scenery, and plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun, Forked Run State Park is an Ohio favorite. But the one thing that makes it well and truly worth visiting is the fact that your canine companion is welcome to join you while you explore everything the park has to offer.

Located three miles south of Reedsville, Forked Run State Park covers 792 acres of beautiful countryside. 120 of those acres are taken up by a peaceful lake, which is popular for boating, fishing, and swimming. Anglers can try their luck at hooking crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, and catfish, with boat rental available and two launch ramps providing access to the lake.

Swimmers can cool off at the 400-foot sand beach; however, it's worth mentioning that pets are not permitted on this beach.

If you grow tired of aquatic activities, the park features a fun disc golf course. There are three easy to moderate hiking trails to explore, ranging from 0.6 to 2.6 miles in length, while volleyball, horseshoes, and tetherball can all be played in the park's day-use areas.

There are also three picnic areas with tables and grills, as well as two shelters available by reservation. There are 81 electric and 64 non-electric campsites, with pets permitted on select sites. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in camper cabins.

If you're travelling with a furry friend, you'll need to make sure that your dog is always on a leash of six feet or less. Your pet must be under control at all times and you'll need to take care to clean up after them whenever needed. A two-pet limit also applies per campsite.

Forked Run State Park is wonderfully scenic destination for anyone looking to spend some quality time with their dog in the great outdoors. Make sure you stop in to check it out if you're ever travelling through this part of the world.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
