Description

Planning a camping excursion for your family reunion, but don't know where to stay? Dry Creek Group Campground at Whiskeytown Lake is a great option! For the low price of $80 per night, you can reserve the grounds for your function, and if you bring nine people that factors out to just $8 per person (per night). Even Fido can join in for the fun -- just make sure they stay leashed! There is an entrance fee of $20 for a weeklong stay per vehicle, so we recommend carpooling.

The campground is tent-only but features modern amenities like pit toilets, large charcoal grills, bear-proof storage boxes, picnic tables, convenient parking, and drinking water. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, guests can enjoy operating showers, a general store, and water sports rentals -- reserve ahead of time to ensure you have access to these additional facilities.

You may be wondering, "What makes this campground different?" Well, for starters, the area is bordered by three different mountain ranges and sits on the edge of a 3,200-acre lake which offers a wide variety of activities to keep campers entertained. Your group can reserve a free guided kayak tour of the lake, which is a wallet-friendly adventure for your whole group. Brandy Creek Beach is within walking distance from the campsite and is a great place to take a dip on a hot summer day.

Gold panning is another favorite (and inexpensive) activity here, especially with kids. History buffs will enjoy sightseeing in nearby Camden House Historic District, less than 10 miles away. The bustling town of Redding is just 14 miles away and has lots of restaurants for when your crew grows tired of roasted weenies.

The mountainous landscape and crystal-clear lake give the campground a postcard-like appearance and make a lovely background for your get together. Don't forget the Polaroid -- you will definitely want to document this beautiful experience! Peak season lasts from April 1st to October 31st, and slots fill up fast, so make your reservation today!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
