Fashoda

Fashoda is a pawesome campground with stunning water views and easy access to great hiking trails. Fashoda has 30 tent-only sites, and they don’t take reservations — all their campsites are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Pups are welcome to join you on-leash at this fun-filled campground. Fido may have to pay a small daily fee to stay here, but there is no exact information available on the campground's pet policies or fees. It may be best to call ahead!

When you’re at Fashoda, you’ll find plenty of great things to do with your dog. If you want to go hiking, hop on the Union Valley Bike Trail. This 4.8-mile trail goes through Fashoda, and it has an elevation gain of 300 feet, making it the pawfect route for pups and people looking for a moderate workout. The trail takes you past beautiful Wench Creek and also provides amazing views of the Union Valley Reservoir. As you’re walking, you may get to see some of the wildlife that lives in the area, including porcupines, mule deer, and bobcats!

If you’re looking for a more mountainous hike, the Two Peaks Trail is just a short drive from Fashoda. This trail takes you up Two Peaks, where you’ll get furrific views of Union Valley far below.

Fashoda is also a great place to go if you want to spend your camping trip out on the water. The campground is located on the shore of Union Valley Reservoir, which is filled with kokanee salmon and brown, rainbow, and mackinaw trout. Because of that, the reservoir is a popular place to go boating and swimming. Many people also go swimming in the reservoir’s clear water.

After you’re finished with the day’s activities, you can grill up dinner for you and your pup on one of the campground’s numerous charcoal grills. If you’d like to build a campfire in the evening, you can buy firewood at the campground — please don't bring your own! This perpetuates the spread of pests.
