Nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, not far from Cherokee, North Carolina, is the fully loaded Fort Wilderness Campground and RV Park. This campground not only comes equipped with all the amenities you need to have a relaxing and fun-filled vacation, but its central location also makes it the perfect starting point for visiting the local attractions.
The campground is pet-friendly, so don't leave Fido at home for this vacation. Just remember to bring dog bags so you can clean up any mess they make in a timely manner. You’re also expected to keep control of your pooch and prevent any excessive barking. Dogs are to stay on a leash at all times, but anchors are welcome on campsites. If you do use an anchor, make sure your pup can't reach areas outside of your campsite and never leave them unattended.
Fort Wilderness encompasses approximately 11 acres of land and offers guests access to 130 campsites. Day passes are not permitted for visitors but one additional person on the campsite each day costs $5.00 person, with the most economically priced sites being the primitive campsites, which are only $25 per night. Even the primitive campsites come with water and electric hook-ups. Tent sites are also in a secluded, shaded area for your privacy. Full hook-ups are offered on RV sites, including sewage. RV storage, supplies, and a dump station are available for guest use. Cabin and RV rentals are offered to those who don't have their own equipment or are looking for an upgrade.
At Fort Wilderness, you'll have no problem finding something to do. Recreational activities include tetherball, basketball, volleyball, and horseshoes, as well as a games room for entertainment. A video arcade and playground are kids' favorites, along with the brand new swimming pool. For history buffs, there’s even a cemetery from the Civil War period.
Just like activities, the campground doesn't skimp on amenities. You will be pleased to find groceries, firewood, ice, and laundry within the grounds, as well as two large and remodeled bathhouses. Both wireless internet and cable television are offered for guests’ entertainment, in addition to a self-service RV wash station.
If you're planning a visit to North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains, then Fort Wilderness Campground and RV park is the perfect place for you to pitch your tent.
