Let’s go camping in an enchanted forest, where the birds chatter in the old, oak trees and life is no longer waiting in traffic to get to work. Fremont Campground in the Los Padres Forest has around 15 sites for tents, RVs, and trailers. The landscape is hilly with plenty of paved parking, green grass space, and shaded areas with dirt and fallen leaves on the ground.
Mention the word “camping" to your favorite pooch and they’ll be in the back seat of the RV before you’ve packed a bag! Fremont Campgrounds know how hard it is for families to leave their dogs behind, so they welcome man's best friend. All woofers must be on a leash less than six feet in length and be under their owner's guidance at all times. It’s requested by the host all dog waste is picked up, so it would pay to bring litter bags.
The serenity of forest camping is a real treat for city dwellers, who can shake off their worries and look forward to walking the trails or fishing for trout in the nearby Santa Ynez River. The Aliso National Recreation Trail is a popular 2.5-mile jaunt on horseback, foot, or mountain bike. Dogs are allowed to accompany their owners on trails through the Los Padres Forest, but only on-leash.
Wheelchair-friendly restrooms and drinking water are available with picnic tables and fire rings at each site. You can also purchase firewood from the host. This is simple living, so there are no electricity, water, or sewer hook-ups for RV campers. Make sure all your supplies are locked away as raccoons come to find food left out.
You get to know people camping out in the forest and while the flames flicker on the campfire, new friendships are made. The beauty of Fremont Campgrounds is an ethereal forest setting only eighteen miles away from sunny Santa Barbara, where you'll be spoilt for choice with activities and amazing sights to see. You can even spend time at the beach or go hiking in the Santa Ynez mountains!
