Grasshopper Flat
If you want to go camping with your pup at a picturesque lakeside campground, check out Grasshopper Flat! This pawesome campground is located on a hilltop, and it has 71 campsites, many of which offer stunning views of the 4,000-acre Lake Davis. Note that these campsites are available on a first-come-first-served basis; you won't be able to book in advance. Also note that there is conflicting information regarding the campground's pet fee -- the official U.S. Forest Service entry for this campground states there is no pet fee, while other sites list the pet fee as $3 per pet.
While you’re at Grasshopper Flat, you’ll find tons of fun things to do with your furry best friend. If you’re hoping to spend your camping trip hiking, there are lots of trails in and around Grasshopper Flat. These trails take you through the beautiful Plumas National Forest and offer amazing views of Lake Davis. Grasshopper Flat is also just a short drive from beautiful Bucks Lake Wilderness, a rugged area filled with hiking trails that take you and Fido through mountains and along the Feather River Canyon. If all this hiking makes you thirsty, drinking water is available at Grasshopper Flat.
Grasshopper Flat is also a great choice for anybody who loves fishing or boating. There’s a boat ramp located within the Grasshopper Flat Campground, and you can also go fishing for trout from the lakeshore. You can also swim in the lake, or you can simply relax on the shore and enjoy views of the bright blue water.
When you and your pup get hungry, you can grill up burgers or hot dogs on your campsite’s personal charcoal grill. If you get cold, you can light up a fire in your site’s campfire ring. You and your pup will both have a great time relaxing by your own campfire after your busy day hiking or fishing!
