Bring your pooch and your trusty steed to the Heart Bar Equestrian Campground to explore the San Bernardino National Forest. This pawesome facility has one site that can house up to 65 people and 21 vehicles. You must have a horse and make reservations at least 24 hours in advance to stay here. Enjoy furrific access to riding trails in the San Gorgonio Wilderness and other parts of this 672,000-acre forest. There are corrals for your mounts, accessible restrooms, running water, and showers here.
Adventure awaits you and your companions when you stay at this secluded campground. The facility is about 21 miles southeast of Big Bear Lake. Head to the water for fishing, boating, and swimming activities. When you want to hit the trail with your horse, check out the Santa Ana Trail that starts near the Sand to Snow National Monument. You can take this scenic ride west for about 33 miles. Follow the wild part of the Santa Ana River to the dam and beyond. Keep your eyes open for bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and other resident wildlife out here. Get a permit if you plan to explore the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Pack in any supplies you need and pack out your trash so that you leave no trace of your visit.
If you bring Fido camping here, keep them on-leash whenever they're outside. Immediately scoop and throw away their poop. Always make sure they're under supervision.Â
