Visitors of the Lake Tahoe area need not spend big bucks to take in the beauty of the natural surroundings! Within 40 miles of this famous lake lies Hope Valley Campground (not to be mistaken with the nearby Hope Valley Resort), which offers close proximity to popular sights along with scenic draws of its own. Bring your pooch along to this quaint campground in the woods and see for yourself.
The grounds hold 20 sites scattered around two loops -- one big, the other small. Rigs up to 35 feet will fit on the lots, so bring your RV, if you so please. You'll find drinking water on-site, as well as firewood for purchase (word on the street is that it's a great deal). The hosts are praised for both their friendliness and their helpfulness, so any problem you encounter will likely be solved quickly. Each site includes tent pads, a campfire ring, a picnic table, and a bear-proof container -- yes, there are black bears on the premises!
A big draw to Hope Valley is how close it is to the West Fork Cason River. The river is any angler's paradise as it's filled with trout, making for quite the yummy catch! Hikers and their pooches will no doubt love trekking through the forest terrain that surrounds the campground. For any that want the Lake Tahoe experience, a quick drive will get you to all of the boating, kayaking, swimming, and incredible views that this hotspot offers.
All pooches are welcome at Hope Valley. While leash regulations are unclear, we recommend that you bring a standard leash with you and ensure that your pupper is by your side at all times -- this is bear country, remember! Also, to keep doggos welcome at this campground, always stoop and scoop, disposing of the waste in the appropriate receptacle.
If quiet campgrounds near mountain rivers sound like your kind of camping, hear to Hope Valley for your next adventure.Â
