Ironwood Group Camp is a welcoming campsite set in the heart of San Bernardino National Forest in southern California. Every season, both new and experienced campers head to Ironwood to enjoy its many wonderful features, and some campers even bring their dogs along with them! The campground is dog-friendly, so you can plan a fantastic camping trip that you and your canine companion will never forget.
The campground is surrounded by a beautiful pine forest at an elevation of 6,650 feet, and it can accommodate up to 25 people in its single campsite. The campsite has a fire circle, picnic tables, and grills to ensure that your stay is a pleasant one. Two nearby points of interest are the town of Fawnskin and Big Bear Lake, both providing numerous opportunities for activities to partake in during your visit. You’ll also want to stop by Big Bear Discovery Center to learn about some of the activities available in the forest, as well as general information about the history and environment.Â
There are lots of beautiful trails you can hike throughout San Bernardino National Forest, and these provide a great way to spend some quality time with your dog exploring the forest and experiencing nature. Big Bear Lake also offers an opportunity for fishing and boating, but swimming there is discouraged due to underwater obstacles and cold water temperatures.
There are a few things you will want to note when you’re planning your stay at Ironwood Group Camp. The first is that each additional vehicle you bring to the campsite will incur an extra $5 fee. Also, the water available at the campsite is somewhat limited, so if you’re bringing an RV, be sure to fill it up beforehand. A California Campfire Permit is required to use a portable gas-powered stove or lantern.
Ironwood Group Camp is one of the best campgrounds in southern California, and you and your dog are sure to have a furrific time there!
