Explore Lake Chatuge amongst the North Carolina Mountains at Jackrabbit Mountain Campground. Stay in the Nantahala National Forest with your favorite fur buddy and see all that the area has to offer! The lake is an obvious draw, as are the clean facilities and the massive selection of trails.
Tenters and RVrs can both enjoy this campground, but please note that reservations can not be changed on-site, so it pays to check out pictures of the site you are booking. While the biggest of the rigs can fit on the campsites, there are no hookups offered here. The lots come with grills, and picnic shelters and a dump station are available for use on-site. You'll also find drinking water at this park, and there is a boat ramp and boat trailer parking area for all of your watercraft needs. To protect this national forest from invasive pests, only purchase firewood from local, approved vendors.
The lake is where most campers spend their days, whether it be sunbathing and reading or waterskiing behind a motorboat. Fishing is also very popular here, and there are two creeks nearby worth checking out for your chance at a catch as well! There are some 15 miles worth of trails for you and your pooch to explore, so there's no excuse to skip walk time while you're camping. Mountain biking is also allowed on these trails. Please note that alcohol is not permitted in any of the recreation areas.
While canine campers are welcome at this campground, they ask that you do not take your pup to the beach or in the water. You also must keep Fido leashed throughout your stay, and please, always pick up after your woofer's bathroom breaks!
If days on the lake are what you seek, look no further than Jackrabbit Mountain for all of your unwinding needs on your next vacation!
