Katahdin Shadows Campground & Cabins

Katahdin Shadows Campground and Cabins is a family-owned campground that accommodates tent and RV camping and offers cozy cabins for rent. The pet-friendly campground sits in a forested area on a grassy hill, in Medway, Maine. The campground’s central location makes it a great home base for mountain climbers, mountain bikers, anglers, and hikers. The campground’s location offers stunning views of Mount Katahdin, which is the tallest mountain in Maine, easy access to the 87,563-acre Katahdin Woods, Waters National Monument, and the wildlife-filled Baxter State Park. Visitors can enjoy fishing in the trout-filled streams and running rivers, hiking the ungroomed nature trails, moose watching, rafting down the Penobscot River -- this place has it all! Make sure to keep your canine buddy on a leash at all times as there is lots of wildlife in the area, including rabbits that occasionally roam around at the campground. 

The campground is grassy with gravel roads and level sites that are well spaced out. It is well-lit, which allows campers to easily navigate through the loops even if they are arriving late or whenever they need to use the restroom. The campground features several full-service sites and private tent sites that come with fire rings and picnic tables. There is also a swimming pool, a game room, a souvenir store, and a basketball court on-site so you and your kids can have a good time even without leaving the campground. 

The rental cabins come with running water but no restrooms. Restrooms are shared among tent, RV, and cabin campers. They feature flushing toilets and free, heated showers. There is also a portable toilet by the tent sites and a laundry facility on-site. Campsites start at $27 per night, sites with water and electric hookups are $36 per night, and full-service sites that include sewer connections are $38 per night. Cabins are dog-friendly and start at $31 per night -- they come with air conditioning, gas or propane heat, electricity, and running water. Gorgeous views, fresh air, untouched greenery all around and your canine camping companion by your side -- what more can you ask for?
