If you long to camp in a forest, mountain setting with a lost-in-the-wilderness appeal, steer a course for the secluded ambiance of Linville Falls Campground RVÂ Park and Cabins.
Older, established oaks set a palatial scene where RV’s can roll in and get hooked up to electricity (20/30/50 amp) with sewer and water. Sites are generally level on loose terrain with a canopy of trees for shade. Fire pits and picnic tables are fenced for camper privacy. There is no access to the internet, but instead a wealth of outdoor fun, including kayaking, mountain, and rock climbing, plus hiking and biking.
Pitch a tent in a beautifully wooded area or choose to stay in one of the campground's inviting log cabins. Each is uniquely different, with one offering a view of Humpback Mountain while another has a full kitchen, bathroom and a rocking chair on the porch. With names like Locust Loft and Black Bear Cabin, you’re sure to find a rustic accommodation to appease your personal, camping style.
It seems the owners and operators know what folks like and have created a series of ways to camp out for a truly adventurous time. Beautiful rhododendron flowers add a spectacular flash of color to a forest green landscape, where camping is back to nature with updated restrooms and showers. A camp store offers firewood and other essentials.
Kids will be entertained with their own awesome playground, while the family dog is required to stay on-leash unless they are having a pawtastic time in the off-leash dog park. Don’t forget to bring their vaccination certificates as you’ll be asked to present them at check-in. Keep the area clean by picking up after your pooch and ensuring they are on their best behavior.Â
A few minutes from the campground is a star attraction and hiker's heaven. Linville Gorge Trail opens the gate to the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, where a challenging walk awaits the adventurous soul. The trail is dog-friendly -- pooches are required to stay on a leash as wild bears roam these parts.
The Linville River is only a mile out from the camp and offers the enthusiastic angler a great day fishing for rainbow trout. Take the kids to Linville Caverns, an enlightening tour through the depths of Humpback Mountain.Â
