Description

Just 19 miles outside of Santa Barbara, California rests Los Prietos Campground. It sits in Los Padres National Forest, and it is known for its lush setting and for being conveniently situated near many outdoor activities. It is a great campground that attracts countless visitors every year, and because it is dog-friendly, you can enjoy and amazing camping trip there with your furry friend!

The campground offers numerous single-family sites, each of which has a table, campfire ring, and grill (note that there is an eight-person limit for each site). For your convenience, the campground is also equipped with flush toilets and drinking water. In addition to these great features, there are lots of activities you can enjoy with your dog during your stay at Los Prietos. Head to the nearby Santa Ynez river for paddling, fishing, and more. You can also check out Cachuma Lake Recreation area, but note that this is a no-body-contact reservoir. Or take a hike in the surrounding Los Padres National Forest, which is home to a diverse array of fascinating wildlife and plant species—you’ll find multiple trailheads within ten miles of the campsite, including the Aliso National Recreation Trail. The area is known for having a variety of amazing birds, including California condors, bald eagles, and great horned owls.

There are a few things you should take into consideration when you are planning your camping trip at Los Prietos. The first is that fires are sometimes restricted in the area due to hot and dry weather conditions. Also note that poison oak is prevalent in the area, so you should take appropriate precautions, especially if you are hiking.

Lost Prietos Campground is one of the premier camping sites in southern California, and you are sure to enjoy your time there with your waggy friend!
