Located along California's world-famous scenic North Coast, Mad River Rapids RV Park is a 92-site campground that offers the perfect mix of nature and amenities for a just-right camping experience. You can get to this RV park directly off of Highway 101, so it is a popular tourist destination. The proximity to Redwoods State Park and Humboldt State University make this park popular all year round.
Each campsite has full hookups, free wifi, and a 58-channel cable television option for the RVs, but no tents are allowed. You can relax and enjoy the heated pool during the summer or the hot spa throughout the year. There is also a full-service restaurant and hotel next to the park. In fact, you'll find just about everything you need on site within walking distance, such as a small grocery store, on-site RV servicing, full restrooms and showers, a snack bar, and even a self-service RV wash and supplies for your RV.
Family owned and operated, Mad River Rapids RV Park is well-known for its fishing, bird-watching, and nature hiking opportunities all within ten miles of the park. The park is pet-friendly, but pets must be on a leash in all areas. You must provide doggy bags, though, and be sure to clean up after any messes you and Fido may make.
With the beach and redwoods so close by, you are sure to run into some interesting wildlife if you head out and explore. While birds, fish, and deer are common, so are many endangered species, so be careful not to touch any plants or animals you are unsure about while you are visiting. The gray wolf is an endangered mammal that makes its home in Arcata, so it would be a good idea to keep Fido on a leash even while exploring.
Finding the park is simple -- from either direction on the US 101, you need to take theĀ Giuntoli/Janes Road exit and head 0.3 miles west on Janes Road. Directly past the Quality Inn hotel, the park will be on your left.
