Description

If you’re looking for a spot for a Fido-friendly Santa Lucia Mountains getaway, you’d be barking mad not to check out Memorial Park Campground. Located five miles away from the tiny town of Jolon, CA, Memorial Park is secreted away in a remote corner of the Los Padres National Forest, far from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Facilities are pretty primitive -- you won’t find any electricity, RV hookups or showers -- but visitors can expect fantastic mountain views, sites shaded by stately, mature oak and sycamore trees, and close proximity to some pawesome hiking trails! Memorial Park has only eight sites, so it’s best to make your reservation early, although one campsite is set aside for walk-ins. Only one vehicle per reservation is permitted -- any more, and you'll face a $10 charge.

Hound-dog hikers will get the most out of a stay at Memorial Park. Santa Lucia Memorial Park has lots of furrific trails for you and your doggo to sniff and explore, and you’ll find several trailheads right inside the campground. The Arroyo Seco Trail in particular is well worth a wander for fitter furry friends. This 5.5-mile out-and-back route runs from just beyond the campsite to Coast Ridge, taking in gorgeous cascades and mini waterfalls along the way. You’ll also be treated to gorgeous vistas from the top of Coast Ridge!

Wifi isn’t available at Memorial Park, and cellular coverage varies from network to network. You might want to contact your provider before you go if you’ll need to stay contactable during your trip. Campfires are permitted in designated rings, but fire regulations can change with the weather. Memorial Park really requires visitors to "ruff" it -- there’s no drinking water on site. The campground doesn’t have a dump station, either, so be sure to bring your rubbish with you! Remember to bring waste bags for your pupper, and have a grrrr-eat trip!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
