Merced River RV Resort

This campground (set conveniently right of Highway 99) is north of Fresno and just south of Sacramento, making this a must-stop spot for folks and pups who want a base camp when exploring all the California attractions like Yosemite National Park, El Capitan, Bridal Veil Falls, and more! 

The park itself offers great, basic amenities, which are perfect for folks who are looking for a step above primitive camping, but don't care for those luxury-style RV resorts. You can choose from tent sites or pull-through sites as your way to stay, both of which are available with 50 amp electric, sewer hookups, and water. 

The good news? Your doggo can come along, too. Just make sure you keep your pup leashed at all times. Traveling with your family or with a large group? That's perfect for this park! Not only are there specified picnic areas, group areas, and a recreation hall area for you guys to enjoy together, but also there are fun, kid-friendly additions like a family park, a pool, a playground, and lots of outdoor games. 

Something super cool about this park is that it's close to the Yosemite Valley Railroad, a passenger train that takes you to the gateway of Yosemite! It also leads to several access points for great hikes that lead to local waterfalls, the giant Sequoia trees, and great vistas that are perfect for wildlife spotting. There are dozens of nearby lakes (like Bass Lake and Lake Yosemite) for folks who want to kayak,  canoe, fish, raft, or just enjoy the water. Don't forget, you can do all these things on the Merced River, too, which runs through the campground!
