Description

Mt. Figueroa Campground is a 35-site campground nestled among the pine- and oak-filled Los Padres National Forest in Santa Ynez, California. It is the perfect place for people who thrive in nature or simply love being outdoors since it offers a variety of activities, from hiking the countless trails nearby, fishing, horseback riding, or mountain biking.

Although the campground is popular all year round, it is busiest during the summer, as well as spring due to the hunting season. Even then, visitors are advised to bring warm clothing and plenty of blankets since the campground is located at an elevation of 3,437 feet. Visitors must make sure to bring enough firewood for the duration of their stay to keep warm, as well as their own water supply since there is no running water source at the campsites. However, some level of inconvenience is expected with any campground, and this one makes up for it with beautiful wildflower-covered mountain views during the day and star-filled skies at night. Despite being popular, the campground does not feel crowded since the sites are well spaced out.

Each campsite at Mt. Figueroa is equipped with a picnic table, a barbeque, and a fire ring. There are also benches, double vault bathrooms, and several dumpsters for trash nearby. Please make sure to pack dog waste bags and clean up after your canine companion during your stay at the campground. Since there are no showers at the location, visitors are advised to bring along wet wipes and washcloths to maintain their hygiene.

This beautiful, secluded campground is the perfect wilderness getaway for those who need some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of city life -- even more so for those that want a weekend away without leaving their furry best friend behind. However, since the roads that lead to the campground are very narrow and steep, make sure your vehicle is prepared for an uphill struggle on a mix of dirt and gravel. There is a store approximately 15 minutes away by car that you can stop by on your way to the campground to stock up on supplies.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
