Nelson Point Campground can be used for both family and group camping sites; the family sites cost $10 per night, and the group site, which can accommodate up to 60 people, costs $110 per night. The campground features campfire rings, grills, food storage lockers, picnic areas, and tent pads. If you’re looking for something to do throughout your stay in Nelson Point, you will have plenty of options. Shasta Lake is the most popular site in the area for outdoor recreation; many use it for boating and fishing. When you’re planning your trip to Nelson Point Campground, remember that you are in an active bear area, so food needs to be properly stored and disposed of. Also note that there is no drinking water provided at the campsite, and be aware of poison oak which is common in the region. Finally, if you plan on using the campground’s group site, note that you must contact Shasta Recreation Office to receive the combination code to enter the campground. This must be done at least a week in advance.
