Imagine your ultimate retreat to Michigan's Upper Peninsula -- does it include mini golf, scenic hikes, and cozy evenings at the outdoor movie theater? If so, then the Newberry Campground might just be the perfect place for you and your four-legged companion.Â
This forested campground has all the amenities you can think of and more. Clean showers, flushing toilets, and a coin-operated laundry facility will keep patrons clean and comfortable during their stay, especially after days spent outdoors hiking or on the on-site basketball court. Evenings can consist of relaxing in the large, heated outdoor pool or watching rented movies from the campground's friendly hosts. Whether you bring your RV, stay in a shaded tent site (rustic or with electricity), or rent a cabin, you are likely to have a pawsitively memorable time at Newberry! Plus, motorbikes are welcome here as well.
While it might be tempting to spend all your time around your campsite's fire pit, Newberry's central location offers too many fascinating attractions nearby. Take your pooch to the beach at Lake Superior’s Crisp Point Lighthouse, rent a canoe at the Tahquamenon River and let your companion be the captain, go for a morning jog in the lush forests, or meet bears at Oswald's Bear Ranch.
Prices per site at this outdoor retreat start at $33 for a tent site and $70 for a cabin, but they vary throughout the year. You can reserve your stay using the booking tool on the campground's website.Â
While this nature oasis is pet-friendly, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Make sure to bring doggy waste bags and clean up after your best friend on the site and on trails. The campground's surface consists of grass, soil, and sand, so be prepared to clean your fur-ball’s paws.
Although you can’t bring your own firewood, it is available in the campground’s store for $6 per bundle. If you’re visiting with kids, they will surely enjoy the on-site playground, mini golf and pool tables.Â
