Description

Thinking of going to Red Feather California? This angler's paradise can be found deep in the Plumas Natural Forest. The main attraction of the campground by far is the Little Grass Valley Reservoir, a body of water over 1,600 acres in size! This reservoir was created back in the '60s, and with a mountain right behind it, it makes for quite the scenic hideout in the woods!

You'll find 59 campsites in the Red Feather camping area, all offering campfire rings, picnic tables, and paved parking spurs. The lots are situated in two large loops; one with a road of sites going through it, and the other with some spots right up on the water! Hookups are not provided at this campground, but rigs up to 40 feet in length can find a spot that fits them. No need to bring water along as drinking water is provided on-site, and you can access a dumping station not far away in a nearby campground.

Water fun is an obvious draw here, with lake access located less than a mile away. Once you get to the reservoir, hop in for a swim, get your boat in the waves for some water skiing, or grab your pole and cast a line to try your luck at catching fresh trout or salmon! Your beloved pupper will be thrilled when you take them along the almost 15 miles of trail that wind around the lake through the adjoining camping areas. If you're into beautiful views, don't miss Fowler Lake, which fills with water lilies, creating a spectacular sight in the mountains!

Canine campers get the "okay" from Red Feather California, but they do ask that you keep Fido on-leash throughout your stay. It's also important that you don't leave your woofer alone either, as there are black bears that roam onto the campground. This also comes into play when storing your food and disposing of your garbage. Do not leave anything out overnight, and always keep food and toiletries hidden in your vehicle. This includes pup waste, so stoop, scoop, and throw those baggies in the trash receptacles!

For pet parents looking to fish at a mountain lake, or just enjoy lazing around on the beach, Red Feather California likely has everything you need for a relaxing getaway in nature.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
