Resting in northern California’s expansive Tahoe National Forest, Salmon Creek Campground is a fantastic destination for anyone who wants to escape their routine daily life and spend some time outdoors in the fresh mountain air. The campground is nicely situated near countless outdoor activities, and its facilities are top-notch as well, making it one of the most popular locations in the area among campers in the know. The campground is also pet-friendly, so you can bring your dog along with you; you’ll have a blast camping out and exploring all the area has to offer!
True to its name, the campground lies adjacent to Salmon Creek. It is surrounded by a charming forest of pine, cedar, and cottonwood trees, and the surrounding area also contains mountains and lakes — a truly enchanting setting. There are 31 campsites on the premises, and the nightly fee, $24, is the same for all sites. At the campground, you can find picnic tables, fire rings, food storage lockers, bear-proof boxes, and piped water. There are also numerous activities in the area, and these can be a great way to spend some time exploring Tahoe National Forest and experiencing the outdoors. Sardine Lake is nearby, and it is a great location for boating and fishing (no swimming is permitted, though). You can also try hiking at Deer Lake Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, or Sand Pond Interpretive Trail.
There are some things you should take note of when you’re planning your trip to Salmon Creek Campground. Remember that this is an active bear area, so you should keep food stored in bear-proof containers and dispose of it properly. Also note that only seven of the campsites have space for trailers.
You and your dog will love Salmon Creek Campground; it’s one of the best campgrounds around for campers of all types!
