Description

Sand Lake Campground is a popular campground located in the Huron-Manistee National Forest, a twenty-minute drive from Irons, Michigan. The serene campground sits on the sandy shores of the 50-acre Sand Lake, surrounded by mature oak and aspen trees. The scenic surroundings make this campground a relaxing location for a weekend away from the loud and busy city life. You and your four-pawed buddy can spend your days splashing by the swimming beach, fishing for bluegill and bass, and discovering diverse vegetation on hikes through the Huron-Manistee National Forest and cooling off by the Pine National Scenic River.Ā

The campgroundā€™s central location gives campers a feeling of camping in the wild, without any traffic noise heard for miles but without being too far from the conveniences that can be found in nearby towns. Since the campground is wooded, all of the sites are well-shaded and provide patrons with plenty of peace and privacy. There are a total of 118 sites for rent, including group sites, and prices per night start at $25.Ā

Although the campground does not offer water or electric hookups, it has everything else to make sure you have a comfortable stay. There are flush toilets, hot showers, and drinking stations available at the campground. Make sure to keep your doggie companion hydrated throughout the stay, especially during the summer when it can get up to 80 degrees. Although the campground is popular, it is clean and well-maintained thanks to the great staff on-site.Ā

The campgroundā€™s proximity and easy access to the Sand Lake give visitors the opportunity to sail, canoe, powerboat, and swim without having to leave the campground, since there is a boat ramp on-site. If you are a daredevil looking for a thrill, check out the Pine River that has the fastest average water flow of any other river in lower Michigan.Ā

No matter what you and your pooch are looking to do, Sand Lake Campground makes the pawfect base camp for exploring everything the Huron-Manistee National Forest has to offer!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
