Sandy Flat

Outside the town of Lake Isabella in south-central California lies Sandy Flat Campground. Drawing in countless campers every season because of its great location and beautiful scenery, it is truly the perfect place for your next camping trip. It is encompassed by California’s famous Sequoia National Forest, and many outdoor activities can be found in the area. More importantly, the campground allows dogs! So pack up your tent, grab some supplies, and head to Sandy Flat Campground for a furrific camping trip with your pooch.  

When you arrive at the campsite, one of the first things you’ll notice is the beautiful Kern River that flows beside it. There are 35 campsites on the premises, six walk-in sites, 29 standard sites, and a group site that can accommodate up to 24 people. You will also find tap water, picnic tables, fire rings, and grills at the campground. If you’re interested in exploring the surrounding area or just want some fun activities to fill your time, then you will have plenty of options to choose from. The Kern River provides an excellent opportunity for fishing and even offers whitewater rafting. You can also head over to Lake Isabella to enjoy boating, fishing, or swimming. If you’re looking for a good place to hike or just take a pleasant afternoon stroll, you can visit the Hobo Fishing Trail which is right by the campground.

One thing you’ll want to keep in mind when you’re planning your camping trip is that the standard nightly fee for a campsite is $26, with an additional $2 fee on holidays. The fee for a double site is $52 with an additional $4 fee on holidays. Remember to keep your dog leashed at all times and that campfires must be within 25 feet of the river.
