Description

If you're looking for a campground where you can disconnect from the rat race of everyday life, look no further than Santee State Park! The campground is located in Santee, South Carolina and is situated on Lake Marion. Both tent and RV camping are allowed, and there are a few lakefront cabins available for rent. Rates start at $16 per night for tent sites, but if you'd like to check out the campground before committing to a reservation, you can visit for just $2 per adult. Come prepared to stay, though! We bet you won't want to go home.Ā

The amenities and activities on offer at Santee State Park are a cut above most state parks. Lake Marion is known for its fishing opportunities, so catch some jumbo catfish and grill it up for dinner at Village Round, the park's communal building complete with grilling stations.Ā During summer, enjoy a dip in the lake, or grab your oar and take out the kayak. If you leave something behind that you end up needing, don't fret -- the state park's store sells some grocery items in addition to souvenirsĀ and even offers WiFi and games. We also recommend trying the barbecue place located just up the road! The food is good enough to make you drool.

If you're camping in a tent or recreational vehicle, Fido is welcome to come along for the fun! No breed restrictions apply. Your pup is required to be on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. This is for your dog's safety, as it's not uncommon to see snakes, alligators, and coyotes around the campground. Remember your manners when it comes to Sparky; make sure you have waste bags on hand for quick disposal of any "presents" your dog leaves behind.

If camping away from the hustle and bustle of the city sounds like your ideal weekend, make sure you visit Santee State Park soon!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
