Description

Camp right beside the Atlantic Ocean on the coast of Maine at Schoodic Woods Campground. This facility sits nestled in one of Acadia National Park's forests and is within walking distance of the waves. In Acadia, you can also discover lakes, creeks, wetlands, and mountains, so you'll have no reason ever to be bored!

The grounds here hold 90 campsites with some lots suitable for larger RVs -- however, keep in mind that these larger vehicles and trailers are not permitted on the Schoodic Loop Road beyond the campground. Electric hookups are offered at every site here at Schoodic Woods, and some also provide water as well. There are several campsites that can only be accessed via hiking, and these areas prohibit fires of any kind along with stoves that burn biofuel. All of the other sites come with a picnic table and a fire ring, though grills for cooking are not supplied.

There is a $15 entrance fee for people entering the facility on foot, while those in a vehicle pay $30 per car. Camping fees start at $22 for hike-in sites and go all the way up to $60 per night for group camping.

While here, be sure to make your way over to the coast to take in the beauties of the Atlantic Ocean. There are scenic roads to travel and over 8 miles of hiking trails to cover with your best furry buddy at your side. If you happen to be here between the end of May and the middle of October, you can also hop on the shuttle to explore the surrounding landmarks and communities surrounding Schoodic Woods.

Pups who love to camp are welcome here as long as they stay leashed throughout their visit. The campground asks that the leash be a standard 6-foot, non-retractable lead and that owners clean up all pet waste quickly and properly while on the property.

For any who are looking to experience what Maine has to offer, Schoodic Woods Campground is a great place to stay.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
