Description

Found among the Osage section of Oklahoma's famous lowlands, Sheppard Point offers everything from horseback riding to photography opportunities during your overnight visit. Opportunities for swimming, as well as a children's play area, make Sheppard Point a perfect family getaway as well.

27 total sites populate Sheppard Point. These campsites are split, with roughly one half catering to recreational vehicles and pop up campers, and the other half geared towards traditional tent campers. Electric sites run $20 per evening, while primitive sites are the base rate of $14. Hot showers are available for free with your camp admission, as well as full public restrooms and access to drinking water.

If you're looking to have a birthday party or other gathering, there are also reservable day-use picnic shelters available at $50 per day for powered or $25 for unpowered. The front gates close at 10 PM every evening, so make sure to plan your arrival accordingly. Guests coming with canines should bring along a 6-foot leash or shorter and make sure that their companion stays indoors through the night, be it in a tent or camper.

Water enthusiasts will enjoy the marked swimming area found on the shores of Heyburn Lake. Swimming here is done without supervision, so if you decide to have a dip, you do so at your own risk. If you've got children, Sheppard Point also has a free public playground directly adjacent to its public swimming area. Any guests with canines are to keep their pet companions away from both the public swimming and playground areas.

If you're more of a nature enthusiast, the hiking at Sheppard Point is second to none. The multi-use trails available here are surrounded by oak, ash, and blackjack trees, among others, making them perfect for nature photography as well. Guests are encouraged to check out these trails during the spring when the area's wildflowers and wild plum trees begin to blossom. Make sure to keep Fido on a leash if they come along while taking care of any messes they might make.

Any guests looking to book time here should keep in mind that costs outlined on this page pertain to Sheppard Point in particular, and may not reflect additional costs for outside attractions.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
