Description

If you’re looking for a great place to "ruff" it with your canine companion in northern Michigan, look no further than Soldier Lake Campground. It rests in the expansive Hiawatha National Forest, providing you with access to the area’s outdoor recreation sites throughout your visit. You’ll love the campground’s lakeside setting, and you can even bring your woofer to the campground to keep you company!

Soldier Lake Campground has 24 pawesome sites to choose from. The nightly fee for a site is just $16, and if you only need the site during the day, the fee is $5. The sites have picnic tables and fire pits, and they can accommodate RVs (just note that there are no hookups here). On the premises, you can find drinking water, picnic shelters, trash collection, and more. If you need to refuel or stock up on supplies, you can head to the town of Strongs, which is seven miles from the campground.

This hidden gem of a campground with spacious, private sites and a swimming beach at one end of the lake keeps campers coming back. Frequent visitors remark that this campground is rarely crowded even during holidays, which makes it the pawfect vacation destination if you and your buddy are looking for a little solitude.

You’ll have many ways to explore Hiawatha National Forest throughout your stay at Soldier Lake. You can canoe and kayak on the lake (no motor boats), or you can fish or swim. You can also head out to one of the area’s great trails for a walk or hike. Mission Hill is a popular trail to the north of the campground. It is an out-and-back trail spanning 3.6 miles, and it provides scenic views of the woodlands beside Monocle and Spectacle Lakes. For one of the area’s most challenging hikes, head to Trout Pond to Maple Hill Trail. It covers over 8 miles and is known for its rugged terrain and beautiful views of the forest.

Make sure your pooch stays on-leash throughout your stay at Soldier Lake Campground. Also remember to clean up after your dog.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
