Take to the San Gabriel Mountains with your favorite pooch and see what the Angeles National Forest has to offer at Table Mountain. A campground offering incredible views, this facility is located just outside of LA, making it a very popular place to visit. Elevations reach up to 7,000 feet in these hills, and the area is dotted with tall pine trees.
At the campground, you will find 43 sites available -- none of which come with hookup options. Sizes of lot vary, with single, double, and group sites up for grabs starting at $23 per night. Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring and a picnic table, but extremely dry conditions do bring on fire bans, so be sure to check with park management before roasting any marshmallows. Table Mountain also has its own amphitheater which can hold up to 150 people and is available for reservations. Drinking water and firewood are provided on the premises and all roads to access the grounds are paved.
While you're up in the hills, feel free to take part in fun activities like hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding. There are countless trails in this forest that lead to beautiful spots to spend the day, like waterfalls and lakes. What makes hiking here even better is that you'll be met with picture-perfect views all along your journey! If you'd rather use wheels to do your traveling, hop on the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway and be sure to bring your camera.
Canine campers are allowed on all sites at Table Mountain Campground. All that the forest asks of those that explore it is that pooches stay leashed throughout their visit -- and that owners clean up anything their doggos leave behind! This is extra important here, as bears frequent the area and may be attracted by pet waste. Dispose of all waste in the trash receptacles and remember to store all food, scented goods, and toiletries in your vehicle.
For any looking to get away from the big city and see what California is really made of, Table Mountain gets rave reviews all around!
