Tahoe Donner Campground

Tahoe Donner Campground, also known as the Adler Creek Campground, is a public tent and RV campground located by Alder Creek in Truckee, California. This dog-friendly campground allows up to two dogs per site for a fee of $5 per dog, which means all family members can enjoy a weekend away from the city noise, including the furry, four-legged ones.

The wooded campground features everything you would want in a campground and so much more, making it a great camping location for beginners, casual campers, or simply those who want to combine nature with the luxuries of civilization. The campground features flush toilets, heated showers, laundry facilities, dump stations, firewood, and even free wifi for the campers’ convenience. There are several picnic tables and benches, too. In addition to the above, the RV sites are equipped with both water and electricity. Please note that the maximum length of RVs that can be accommodated at the campground is 45 feet. 

There are a variety of fun outdoor activities available at the campground, from ping-pong and horseshoes to volleyball and hiking. With the Emigrant Trail located nearby and easy access to the Tahoe Donner trail system, the campground’s patrons have a multitude of choices when it comes to choosing a trail for a scenic walk or hike. On the flip side, campers have to remain alert as the surrounding Sierra Nevada wilderness features an abundance of wildlife, from bears and bobcats to coyotes and mountain lions. 

Sites can be reserved online or by calling in, both of which are highly recommended a few days in advance due to the campground’s popularity.

The Tahoe Donner Campground is easily accessible since the road that leads to it is paved -- no need have any worries about dirt, gravel, or your car getting stuck in the mud in case it rains!
