The Campus RV Park

Campus RV Park is a clean and quiet park in the heart of Independence, Missouri, ruffly 10 miles east of downtown Kansas City. Open all year round, it's located within walking distance of a host of historic sites and welcomes dog owners and their furry friends.

With 30 full-hookup sites designed to suit big rigs, the sites boast level concrete pads and are generally easy to access. Sites are well spaced so you don't feel like you're right on top of your neighbors, and free WiFi is provided.

All sites have both 30-amp and 50-amp connections and cost $33 a night. The restrooms, laundry, and dump station are all centrally located, and management lives on-site if you ever need assistance. There's also a softball field if you feel like raising a sweat.

If you're bringing your pooch, the good news is that pets are welcome in Campus RV Park. There are grassy areas close to the sites where your dog can stretch their legs and do their business, but dogs must be leashed and attended at all times. You'll also have to clean up after your canine companion at all times, and management requests that you don't walk your dog at the sites themselves or near the park office.

One word of warning for visitors: the park entrance is a little difficult to find, so take care on your first approach to avoid having to circle back around. The park is also quite close to a train line, so you may soon get used to the sound of regular train whistles (not a major inconvenience) as a backdrop to your stay.

However, the park's location means you can easily walk to attractions like the old courthouse, the National Frontier Trails Museum, and the old downtown precinct of Independence.
