Book Dog Walk

Introduction

Houston is a “pawpular” vacation destination for hounds and humans alike. Your tail-wagger will feel especially welcome here — the city even has its own organization dedicated to creating more dog-friendly businesses!

Fortunately, Houston has no shortage of fur-friendly spots. Pamper your pup at one of the city’s many doggy salons, indulge in yappy hour at a dog-friendly bar, or play the day away at more than a dozen dog parks in Houston. If you time your trip just right, you might catch a dog day at the local baseball stadium!

Looking to skip the luxury hotel for this vacay? Read on to discover our favorite dog-friendly campgrounds in Houston and the surrounding area, “pawfect” for both city slickers and country-loving canines!

#1 Westlake RV Resort

This luxurious RV resort on the outskirts of the city features everything you and Fido could “pawssibly” need for a comfy camping trip. Westlake RV Resort comes complete with a jacuzzi, swimming pool, well-stocked fishing lake, and even a dog wash station. Practice good “petiquette” and keep your pal on a leash (and their best behavior!) at all times. This park’s pet policies aren’t listed online, so we recommend contacting the resort directly with any questions or concerns.

#2 Galveston Island State Park

Located just an hour outside Houston, Galveston Island is packed with dog-friendly places to stay and play. After a long day exploring the area’s off-leash parks and dog-friendly beaches, rest up at Galveston Island State Park. Camp out right by the beach and enjoy all the standard amenities, like electric and water hookups, restrooms, and showers. Pets are welcome to stay in Texas state parks, provided they’re on-leash, well-behaved, and kept out of buildings.

#3 Galveston Island RV Resort

If you and Fifi prefer to camp in comfort, Galveston Island RV Resort might just be the “pawfect” fit! Humans can relax in the lazy river and hot tub, and hounds are invited to let loose in the park’s own bark park. Other services include an on-site store and outdoor games. Unfortunately, breed restrictions apply here: Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Chows, German Shepherds, and wolf hybrids are prohibited.
