Upper Sage Flat Campground rests in central California’s Inyo National Forest, and it is an ideal location for your next camping trip. If you feel the urge to explore, you’ll have plenty of places to choose from; the area houses many sites for outdoor recreation. And best of all, the campground is pet-friendly, so you can bring your dog along too!
The campground lies about ten miles west of Big Pine, and it is surrounded by majestic pines and cottonwoods that provide ample shade for campers. It has 21 campsites that can accommodate up to six people each. At the campground, you’ll find a number of amenities that will enhance your stay, including picnic tables, campfire rings, bear boxes, and tap water. While you’re staying at Upper Sage Flat, you will have lots of activities available nearby. There are numerous trails that can be used for hikes or even short walks. One trail runs alongside Big Pine Creek and passes waterfalls and other scenic features. You can also hike around Rock Creek, and this area also has fishing and swimming available at Rock Creek Lake.
To make your camping adventure as pawesome as possible, you should consider a few things when you are planning your visit. The cost for a site is $23 per night, and the maximum stay at the campground is 14 days. Note that the campground is in a bear zone, so you should store and dispose of food properly. Dogs must be kept on-leash, and there is a two-pet maximum for each site. You must reserve your site in advance during the peak season; walk-ins are only accepted outside of peak times.
