Take to the Plumas National Forest and discover beautiful Bucks Lake when you stay at Whitehorse Campground (with your favorite doggo by your side, of course!). This quaint little camping facility is the perfect place to hide away in the woods and slow down the pace of life for a while.
Open only in the warmer months, Whitehorse offers 19 campsites to the public -- none of which have any hookup options. "Ruffing" it a bit in the forest will give you a chance to get back to nature -- but don't worry! They do provide drinking water and vault toilets for the comfort of their guests. Each site also comes with a picnic table and a fire ring for easy cooking and dining. Rates to stay here are a standard $25 per night, with 6 people being able to camp on each site.Â
The lake makes for a super spot to spend your days, as you can swim, paddle, or motor around out on the water. When you're not showing off your water skiing skills, you and Fido can hit the Bucks Lake Loop Trail, which is the perfect way to clock in your woofer's daily exercise time! If you're up for a bigger challenge, the two of you can spend a day out on the Pacific Crest Trail through the Bucks Lake Wilderness area.
Your beloved barker is welcome throughout the park as long as they stay on-leash and out of any buildings. Bears often roam the campground, making it extra important that you clean up all pet waste and keep your pupper with you at all times. It's also a good idea to store all food and toiletries hidden away in your car or secured in a bear-proof container.
If you'd like to spend your days off having fun by a beautiful Californian lake, Whitehorse Campground is the place for you!
