Description

Nestled right along Winnibigoshish Lake, which can be found in the Chippewa National Forest, is Winnie Dam Campground. This northern Minnesota campground offers guests an escape from busy city life to relax in nature.

Dogs are permitted to join their owners while camping at Winnie Lake. Details of regulations surrounding dogs are not explicitly stated on the campground website, but like all campgrounds, you are expected to tidy up after your pooch. You should also be sure to bring a leash along with you, in case they need to remain on-leash at all times. Generally, when walking through a campground, this is the requirement.

At Winnie Dam Campground, you can boat, swim or even fish on Winnibigosh Lake. This lake is 67,000 acres in size, giving guests lots of room to explore the water. If you decide to cast a rod, be sure the check out the fish cleaning station that is available for campers. The lake is stocked with walleye, perch, and musky fish, making it every angler's dream!

If you're looking for other activities to fill your time, you can check out the nearby forests by hiking one of the many trails. There, you may spot a bald eagle or other creature in its natural habitat. You could also take a stroll with your pup along the 140 miles of shore that surrounds the lake. A boat ramp, picnic shelter, and playground are also available, and there is a hunting zone close by.

This campground offers guests 22 sites to choose from, all of which come with electrical hookups and cost only $24 per night. Unfortunately, there are no water or sewage hookups. The sites are intended for the use of camping vehicles such as RVs, pop-up trailers, or fifth wheels. All sites do have access to pit toilets, with a few flush toilets available as well. There are also showers guests can utilize. Campfire rings and picnic tables can be found on each site.

If you're looking to have an authentic camping experience, be sure to swing by Minnesota's Winnie Dam Campground to enjoy all the outdoors have to offer for you and your pooch!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
