Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground

Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground is a 15-site campground located by the Wrights Lake in Kyburz, California. This dog-friendly campground is open only to those traveling with horses or other pack stock animals, with one pack animal being allowed per site. Please note that those who aren’t traveling with any said animals will be asked to leave.   

The grassy campground sits surrounded by wildflowers and lush greenery made up of lodge fir and lodgepole pines. It overlooks the 40-acre Wrights Lake, which is said to be one of the most scenic lakes in the Crystal Basin of Eldorado National Forest. With gorgeous lakeside views, the smell of the conifer forest, sound of water and numerous birds, it is easy to relax in the wilderness and get some much-needed peace. It is even easier when you know you can take your four-legged family member along to enjoy the nature with you; just remember that dogs have to be leashed during their stay at the camp and accompanied at all times.

The Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground is easy to get to and well-shaded. It accommodates tent or RV camping, with each of the 15 sites being equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. There are also vault toilets and benches available for the camp’s patrons.

In addition to breathtaking vistas, the camp’s visitors get to enjoy miles of various hiking trails, fishing, wildlife watching, stargazing, non-motorized boating, and paddling. Plus, those that are traveling with horses will be able to experience several stunning equestrian trails that run through the wooded areas as well as open grassy fields.

While camping can be incredibly fun, the camp’s patrons need to remember about their own safety as well as the environments. Please stay alert, as bears and other wild animals pass through the nearby areas, and keep the animals you are traveling within sight at all times. Fires should be limited to the grill and fire ring only.
