If you’re looking for a furrific place to play with your dog in Hamilton Heights, head to the 142nd Street Dog Run! This dog run is located within scenic Riverside Park, and it’s filled with attractions your pup will love.
The 142nd Street Dog Run includes one big fenced, double-gated enclosure where dogs of all sizes can play together. The ground in the dog run is covered in cedar chips, and there are plenty of trees throughout the dog park that will keep your pup cool on hot days. There’s also a shady bench for owners to sit on while their pup plays. The dog run also has a great view of the Hudson River for owners to enjoy.
Since no water is available in the dog run, it’s a good idea to bring some with you. If you need to clean up after your pup, doggy bags are available. Dogs who use the 142nd Street Dog Run are required to be licensed and up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations, and owners are required to carry proof while they're at the park.
If you’d like to go for a longer walk with your dog after they’re done playing, take a stroll on Riverside Park’s paved pathway. This pathway is four miles long, and it provides stunning views of the Hudson River. Pups are allowed to go on this pathway on-leash anytime, and they’re also allowed to go off-leash between 9 PM and 9 AM. Just be sure to keep your dog under voice control if they’re off-leash.
