This has necessitated the closure of some services, and only a small portion of the beach remains open at this time. Furbabies are welcome to join their owners at Bahia Honda State Park, but they must be on a lead of no greater than six feet at all times. It is important to note that dogs have very limited access to the property, and they are not allowed on the beach.
There is no specifically designated dog play area nor are there any on-site amenities for canine use. Owners must ensure their dogs' needs are met by bringing drinking water with them. Poop bags are not provided; however, it is the responsibility of all owners to clean up after their furbabies and properly dispose of their waste.
Bahia Honda State Park is a private facility, and access to its grounds is fee-based. There is a charge of $8 per vehicle plus a $0.50 surcharge per person as imposed by Monroe County. The campsites, cabins, and lodges are available for rental by reservation only, and additional costs are applicable.
Among the amenities at this stunning beachside campground and state park are snorkel boat tours, water sports equipment rental shops, concession stands, a gift shop, a marina, and the Sand and Sea Nature Center. Some of the popular activities include boating, camping, picnicking, hiking, geocaching, swimming, and scuba diving.
Bathrooms are housed on the grounds for public use. Dogs visiting Bahia Honda State Park are expected to comply with all Florida state legislation which includes up to date vaccinations and a city dog license.
