If making new friends is on your pup's barket list this year, take them to Bark Park for some doggie socialization! The first and only off-leash dog run in White Plains, this pawrific site provides a safe environment for your pooch to romp unfettered alongside their fellow canines. Expect Bark Park to become Fido's favorite spot in the city!
Located off of Brockway Place, this pooch playground sits on the Main Street extension across from the back of Delfino Park. It was intentionally built away from residential areas so that Westchester puppers can run and play to their heart's content without disturbing neighbors.Â
The park features a gravel surface to play on, which is pawfect for keeping ticks and mud at bay. The area does get hot and dusty during the summer, however, so have wet wipes or a towel handy to clean up your pal if they get dirty. If your pooch is lighter than 30 pounds, they can stretch their legs in the separate small dog area. The Bark Park also features mutt mitt dispensers, a trash can, benches for dog parents, and a drinking fountain. It's a good idea to bring your own water, though, as regulars say the fountain doesn't always work. Note that there is no shade at the dog park, so stop by when the sun isn't too strong to keep your pup from overheating.Â
It's impawtant to note that Bark Park has recently become a members-only facility, so be sure to stop by the Main Recreation Office at 85 Gedney Way to register your dog first. The annual membership fee is $25 for White Plains residents, and $50 for those living outside the city. Clip on Fido's registration tag once it's issued, as field marshals will be checking almost daily. Your dog should also be current on all vaccines and a city dog license.
For leash-free exercise and socialization in White Plains, let your pooch run loose at Bark Park!Â
