Bark Place Barking Lot (at Breakheart Reservation)

The Bark Place Barking Lot is a dog park in Saugus, Massachusetts. The dog park is located near the Pine Tops Picnic Area on the Breakheart Reservation. Yes, it is just outside the town, but it is a place where pooches can be let off their leashes seven days a week from dawn to dusk. 

The six hundred and forty acres of forest land which the Breakheart Reservation is comprised of has great trails, fishing lakes and is a favored spot for bird watching. Owners and their dogs are welcome to participate in any of the activities so long as pup stays on its leash. The dog park is the only place where they are allowed to run free. 

This dog park in Saugus lives up to its name as it was once a parking lot. Since it was re-conditioned, it has no resemblance to a parking lot at all but is a fantastic off-leash compound for pups who enjoy a woodland atmosphere. Now fully enclosed with waist-high fencing, there is no worry for owners that their dogs will go AWOL and disappear into the forest. 

The off-leash enclosure is for mixed sizes and has been finished well with a heavy load of wood chippings to keep it in tone with its surroundings. Just because this Saugus dog park is in the wooded back of beyond, don't think there are no rules or regulations. There are and just as many as there are in any other dog park in the county. 

One rule of major importance in this dog park is the scooping poop one. Accumulated dog feces can greatly affect the natural balance of the environment, transmit infections to wildlife and pollute the water table. So poop scooping is a must and bags are supplied for that purpose. 

While the Bark Place Barking Lot at Breakheart Reservation is reserved solely for use by canines, there is always a possibility wild animals have passed through it during the night. Keep your pup safe from irritation by making sure your tick and flea treatments are up to date.
