Sometimes all your pup needs to make his day pawtastic is to spend some time with his wonderful friend and get a bit of fresh air outdoors. Barkan Park in the city of Philadelphia is just the perfect outing for you both. Located in the Spruce Hill Community of the city, this park is easily accessed either on foot or by grabbing a parking spot on the adjacent side streets.Â
This park is designed with one thing in mind – an outdoor gathering place for the community. Take Fido for a walk anywhere on this open green space and they will be happy. Rolling and romping around is what this park is all about, which is having fun. Many of the area residents bring a blanket to enjoy a picnic lunch or to relax in the sun. There are many mature shade trees throughout this small park which will offer you both a reprieve from the hot, summer sun. A couple benches dot the landscaped grounds for relaxing. Don’t forget to take advantage of those and enjoy the scenery. The park is maintained year-round, so there is no excuse for not visiting in the winter. For an extended walk, the city sidewalks which run around the perimeter of the park make for a nice stroll as well.
There are no restrooms or drinking fountains located in the park, however you can pack a couple of water bottles to share if you will be visiting for an extended time. Your pup must remain on leash throughout your time here. Bring mutt mitts and clean up after your doggo to keep this park always pup-friendly.
Barkan Park should be tops on your list of puptastic places to visit with your furry friend in the city of Philadelphia! Â
