Barkingham Dog Park (at Reedy Creek Park)

Is Fido getting bored at home? Don't let your furry pal stay indoors all day, bring them to the dog park for an unfettered romp! Pups residing in and around Charlotte's University City neighborhood wouldn't want to miss Barkingham Park. Less than 10 minutes from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, this pawsome canine playground is a furrific spot for letting your pup stretch their legs and meet new doggie friends! 

Located in the northern section of Reedy Creek Park, Barkingham Park offers 4 generous acres of fenced-in space for Charlotte's canine citizens to run, sniff, and play without the constraints of a leash. It is one of the bigger dog parks in the city, so even large and high-energy doggos can get some sprints in and tire themselves out here. Amenities include a separate area for small pups, water stations, toys, and plenty of seating for the humans. Doggie waste bags and trash cans are also supplied for easy cleanups.

Half the park is covered with trees that provide ample shade, while the other half is an open field. Due to the pupularity of Barkingham Park, most of the grass has been worn away and the area can get muddy after it rains. Be sure to bring a towel on wet days for a quick wipe off before heading back to the car. 

The entire Reedy Creek Park is dog-friendly, so you can take your four-legged pal for a leashed stroll outside the off-leash area. You'll find walking paths meandering throughout this 146-acre green space, plus 10 miles of hiking trails in the adjacent 727-acre nature preserve. Wherever you and your dog go, always pick up whatever they put down.
